RESTAURANT: PALETTE SF

816 FOLSOM STREET
SAN FRANCISCO, CA 94107

I found Palette SF to be the epitome of a masterful combination of culinary art and fine art through the curation of a coastal menu and theme with local artists and artisans. Its chef and proprietor, Peter Hemsley, has unearthed a possibility for more restaurants to pay attention to the art scene and craftmanship surrounding them. This restaurant also speaks to the blessed soil and water of the Bay Area, exemplifying the famous "farm to table" concept through its sustainable and traceable approach to sourcing ingredients. I had the chance to speak to both Peter and Lena, the marketing manager for Palette, in person about their restaurant in tandem with the goals of my project.

Peter Hemsley is the chef and proprietor of Palette and this is his first solo venture since his departure from other fine dining restaurants. He is also a humble artist who draws inspiration for his craft from art history and concepts.
